PATH ADMINISTRATOR: Strzałowo Forest Inspectorate
The nature trail of Piersławek starts and ends at the Piersławek forester’s lodge located near the road from Piecki to Mikołajki (approx. 4 km from Piecki). At the forestry seat there is a Memorial Chamber dedicated to Ernst Wiechert, an outstanding German writer. The forester's lodge was accommodation tied to the job of his father. In the Memorial Chamber you can see an exhibition dedicated to the writer. It contains the writer's works, letters and documents. There is a resting clearing with benches, tables, and a place for a bonfire. North of the forester's lodge there is a grave of the writer's younger brother, Paul, who died of diphtheria in 1895 at the age of five. Wiechert portrayed his brother's illness and death in the autobiographical novel Forests and People.
