About the Park

The Masurian Landscape Park was established in 1977 in order to protect natural, historical and cultural values that are unique not only on for the region, but also to Europe. It is the oldest landscape parks in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and one of the biggest ones in Poland with an area of over 536 km2. The largest lake in Poland, Lake Śniardwy, and the northern part of the Pisz Forest are located within the Park. An incredible attraction is the kayaking route down the Krutynia River, considered to be the most beautiful in Poland. Over 90% of the area of the Masurian Landscape Park covers the “Masurian Lakes” MAB Biosphere Reserve.

The topography, the richness and diversity of the fauna and flora, the abundance of forests, peat bogs, lakes and rivers make everyone find here not only an ideal place to relax, but also to feel like being part of the nature. There are nature trails and biking routes in the Park with a total length of approx. 400 km, of which approx. 135 km is managed by the Masurian Landscape Park. There are also bird watching towers, footbridges and piers.

The headquarters of the Masurian Landscape Park Management is located in a historic building in the village of Krutyń. The Centre for Nature and Cultural Education with the Chamber of Natural Sciences and the Centre for Periodic Rehabilitation of Storks operate there.
