Nature trail of "Strzałowo"

PATH ADMINISTRATOR: Strzałowo Forest Inspectorate

The nature trail of Strzałowo starts in the parking lot near the seat of the Strzałowo Forest Inspectorate. You can choose from two route variants — longer or shorter loop. It passes through valuable natural areas of the north-western part of the Pisz Forest. Having chosen the longer loop, you can admire dystrophic lakes with floating islands. Vegetation typical of raised bogs, e.g. peat moss, marsh Labrador tea, bog-rosemary and protected insectivorous round-leaved sundew, grow on the lake shores. Peat moss grows on the lake water table and creates a specific plant blanket. This is peat moss mat detaches and creates floating islands.

The last section of the path leads along the shores of Lake Majcz Wielki. The reservoir has a developed shoreline with one forested island. Its water is highly transparent.

Near the lake shore there is a small cemetery with three graves. The relatives of Ernst Wiechert, a famous German writer, are buried there, including his son and first wife.
