ON THE ROUTE:
- The route leads through forest areas via mainly asphalt roads and a section along the forest road. In two places the trail crosses the rail road.
The Szeroki Bór Loop is a perfect route for beginner bikers. It will take you through the very centre of the Pisz Forest, formerly called the Jańsbork Forest. It is the largest forest assembly in Masuria with an area of 100 thousand ha. The Pisz Forest is a forest mainly of pines and spruces with some birches, aspens, maples, alders and oaks. You will find Masurian pine here (an ecotype, e.g. a local species of the Scots pine), which is characterized by excellent technical parameters of wood and longevity. These trees are extremely slender and grow up to 40 m high. The village of Wejsuny located on the trail was founded in 1763.There is a neo-Gothic Evangelical church and part of the old buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The village is also known from the Prussian baba, a sculpture found there in 1872, and taken to Pisz in 1969, where it can be admired in front of the town hall.
