TRAIL COURSE: PTTK riverside hostel in Krutyń – Lake Mokre – Królewska Sosna Reserve – Karwica Mazurska – Pranie
ON THE ROUTE:
- The route leads through forest areas, dirt roads and forest paths (watch out for protruding roots), and near Karwica Mazurska it goes along an asphalt road and cross the railway tracks.
The trail starts in the PTTK riverside hostel in Krutyń. Karol Małłek, a Masurian activist and writer, lived and worked in this town. He published poems, articles, folklore works and feuilletons. The Karol Małłek Memorial Chamber is located in the Natural and Cultural Education Centre. You can see there memorabilia, photos of the writer and original furniture from his home.
The trail partially runs through the Masurian Landscape Park, along two nature reserves and four nature monuments.
The Pranie forester’s lodge is the final destination on the trail. Its name derives from the Masurian word prać (to cover with fog) as the building was situated in the meadow which was often covered with fog. It houses a museum devoted to the poet Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, who spent his holidays here in 1950-53.
