This wooden Orthodox church was erected in 1921–1923 and modelled on the Russian Orthodox churches of the Tver area, where the initiator of the construction –– father Aleksander Avayev –– came from. It is a building with a characteristic large dome crowned with a magnificent onion-shaped spire. The church inside lacks of polychrome, it is equipped with a modest, white and gold iconostasis decorated with icons of different artistic value, created in various ages.
In 1995-96 the temple was thoroughly renovated, and in 1996 it was re-dedicated. An orthodox female monastery is organised at the church. It is one of the three Orthodox nunneries in Poland. A small cemetery and monastery buildings are adjacent to the church.
