ON THE ROUTE:
- The route leads in forest areas and open agricultural lands, along forest, field, dirt and asphalt roads. The trail crosses the railway tracks in one place and overlaps the main roads in two sections: the national road no. 58 (approx. 2.5 km) and the voivodeship road no. 609 (approx. 1 km).
The Wojnowo Loop biking trail allows you to admire typical rural buildings in the Masurian Landscape Park. These buildings have a simple form, wooden gable roofs, covered with ceramic pantiles, and are made mostly of local materials (ceramic brick, wood, field stone). The route takes you to the villages of Wojnowo, Gałkowo and Wygryny, where many historic old wooden cottages have been preserved. When on the trail, pay attention to the old cemeteries that are also typical to the landscape of Masuria. Over a hundred of them have been inventoried in the Park. In the past, nearly every village or settlement had its own cemetery. Most often these were Evangelical cemeteries with characteristic cast-iron crosses or Old Believers’ ones with an eight-point crosses. Cemeteries of various confessions, wooden cottages and old tree alleys are typical to Masuria.
