ON THE ROUTE:
- The route leads in forest areas, along forest, field, dirt and asphalt roads. The ferry crossing in Wierzba is available from June to September only.
The Bełdany Loop is a biking trail around Lake Bełdany and, at the same time, through the very centre of the Masurian Landscape Park. The route was marked out by the Pisz Forest surrounding the lake and picturesque Masurian villages. You can set off both in Ruciane-Nida and Mikołajki. In both cases you need to cycle several kilometres to get to the loop. The biggest attraction on the route is the Polish horse breeding area, where you can come across a free-walking herd. We recommend leaving the route for a while and visiting the Research Station of the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Popielno and its museum of natural history. Passing through the village of Wygryny, pay attention to the wooden buildings, a mill from the beginning of the 20th century and two Evangelical cemeteries. A tower bunker built in 1900 is located near the Guzianka Lock.It was one of the many elements of the Ruciane-Guzianka defence junction.
